Joseph Caropepe A Journey

  1. This picture was taken at the house on Speedway in Austin. I’m pretty sure it was after we remodeled the kitchen. What at face!
We just got back about an hour ago from the vet’s office. We thought this would be a good way to capture some of the stories and memories that other people have of Mason. So please, share your memories of him with us… and everyone else on this website. I know there are some great stories out there.
    Thanks, k-

  2. We can only cherish the one’s we love forever, and never forget the memories. From the hot sizzling summers in Austin to the cool cold city of Seattle. I will never forget all the games of fetch and hiking with the lovable dog named Mason. We will miss Mason.

    Dear Karen, Joe, and Gretchen;
As you know, Mason is fine. It’s us poor slobs left behind that will be a wreck for him and the 3 of you. I’ll always remember he liked my meatballs, and sooo appreciative of any and all affection. Sweet soul.
Possibly when you’re ready we could have a wake for him?
Look for peace and listen for Mason…he’s still with you.
    Love, Laurie and Rick

now that he’s crossed over i can tell our secret—i let mason sit on my lap on the furniture when you weren’t home. i know it’s shocking, but, well it’s true. you might expect smart little gretchen to be the most clever, and she certainly is in her own way, but mason really had a special charm. he would lie there with his feet on either side of his head with his eyes looking up sooooo pleadingly. then, maybe accidentally, i might have said, very quietly, come ‘ere little boy, come on. and i might have patted my lap and he was *so* happy while he came galomping into my lap. he could galomp in just one step—-lesser dogs have to take many steps to achieve that special goofiness. and crazy how small he could curl up. what a mix of goofy and loving and simple jock and just super sweet, special, wonderful dog. and so lucky to have had you three in his life.
well now i’m sitting here crying and suki is innocently stretching his tongue down to the bottom of the peanut butter jar that bandt gave him. isn’t that the great thing about dogs. they are just right where they are. i know brandt and suki and izzy happily let me speak for them in saying we love you all–on this side and on the other. great dogs and great stewards. (and please note that gretchen was absolutely innocent in these shenanigans. tell her my lips are sealed)

  5. Sarah & Bill says:

I am so sorry to hear about Mason. I was glad he got to visit us in Wyoming on Karens trek to Seattle. No dog could ask for better humans than Mason had. I think it was Mason that did that terrific Scooby Do impersonation.
    Love Sarah & Bill

  6. We are in the moment with you guys right now. Tears alone is a hard emotion… Laughter through tears… now that is another emotion all together. Thank you.

  7. Brian Hanson says:

I remember when I was living with you guys in Clear Lake Shores, Texas. I had just bought a boat and was refinishing the floors of the boat in your garage. Mason and Gretchen stayed in the Garage during the day, I came home numerous times to find all my tool boxes half eaten, sandpaper chewed up and spread throughout the garage. HE ATE THE SANDPAPER!
Mostly I remember that face as I put on my shoes with his nose an inch from my face staring through me……….hello?………..Mason?
Tonight Tamara and I will hoist a beer to his memory. God blessed you guys and you guys bless him.
Love you Brian, Tamara, Jessica and Makayla

  8. I have only had the pleasure of hanging out with Mason a few years but they were great years. One of my fondest memories was visiting you guys in Austin. Mason and Makayla were the same heighth both standing at the window just watching the cars go by. Precious memory. We will miss Mason.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
    Love, The Hansons from Texas

My memories of Mason are of a goofy galompf getting out on our precarious pool cover last Thanksgiving. And his and Gretchen’s counter surfing, and when he was in the yard and I called him away from the gate (through which he was looking for “Mom and Dad”) and how he sounded like a horse as he came running. Such a sweet guy! Know you will miss him – what memories you have.
    Love, Mata
